Lest We Forget – Our Animals In War

Well, there was a bit of a change in this weeks weather for Dog Walkers !! Sun, blue skies and much, much cooler. Even a couple of frosty mornings thrown in !

The Dogs……

All the usual gang out to play this week – Labradoodle, labrador, French Bull Dogs & Puggle. Along with Schnauzers, Cockerpoos, Sprocker. Cockers, Schih Tzus & Chi Apso too. We have been Dog Walking froma number of areas including Abbots Langley, Leavesden, Nascot Wood and Garston.

The Mogs……

We have been Cat Feeding in Garston, Huntonbury Village and Leavesden this week. Some of those who have been enjoying our Cat Care Service recently are Casey, Sukie, Bella and Diesel.

Something of Interest ………….

During the coming week we will be remembering those who have fought in or indeed are still involved in war throughout the world. What is often forgotten are the animals – horses, birds, dogs among others – that assisted their humans during these awful times. That said, there is now a memorial to commemorate Animals In War…………….

The memorial is located in Hyde Park, London ( Brook Gate, Park Lane, W1 ). These pictures are from The Animals In War Memorial Website, where there is lots of information about this subject. If you would like to find out more just follow the link – http://animalsinwar.org.uk

Many people now wear a purple poppy alongside the red poppy on remembrance day. The Purple Poppy was created relatively recently – in 2006 by the charity Animal Aid ( for more information follow the link http://www.animalaid.org.uk The poppy is worn to remember animals that served in wartime / have been victims of war.

Give your pets an extra hug today. Stay Safe.
